I have no problem with the free stylers , as most of them wear rather 'Manly' Skirts. That's fine with me as long as you don't try to disguise yourself as a female. If you do that, you are a crosee dresser.
As Far as I concern, Cross Dressing and Men in Skirts are two different thing.
Most of the Freestylers in Tom's Cafe are rather militant about their 'movement' and have too much 'Pin up' anger against the world. They just want to cross dress the world. It is fine to express your distaste of the world and how you are being treated. But Changes do not happen overnight. It takes time.
I haven't said my farewell to Tom's Cafe. I still like to pop in for a quick conversation and an expresso.

I still have my own table in the Café (the one in the corner near the potted Palm). Tom himself, although quite seriously unwell, was exceptionally kind and generous to Dave W and me whilst on the Washington DC leg of our Tour - he is a gem of a gentleman.
As a result, I cannot bring myself to abandon Tom's Café altogether, although I feel extremely saddened at the way in which the clientele has changed in the past year or so. I still pop in there from time to time - but not with any regularity - and, if I do not care for the 'atmosphere', I come out again as speedily as I went in!
That's exactly what I do, too. I go to Tom's at least once a day to see what's new. There are still some fine kilted gents that post there and I'd miss their insights if I gave up Tom's.
Some days there are no posts I care to read and I move on to X Marks or kiltmen.com.
I don't post at Tom's so much anymore because people started telling me how kilts are just another kind of cross-dressing.
I think Tom has done a lot for kilts on line, as has WDP. Both have been around and helping guys into kilts for a long time.

As fast as this board has grown I think Hank might qualify already Unfortunately, I think it's time to make my exit from Toms. I read some of the nonsense and I'm starting to get angry. I don't think that'll be any too productive.

I've never been to Tom's but it doesn't sound good. I personally think its fine for guys to wear non-kilt MUGs, but the cross dressing and all that well... I don't hold a grudge, but I think it's a little weird.

I left Tom's for 2 main reasons. It took more than one discussion in our house to finally get agreement that it was ok for kilts to be worn by men other than pipers and groomsmen. The last thing I needed was my spouse pointing a finger at the computer and arguing that I had a hidden X-dress agenda and that I should stop wearing kilts and seek help. Tom's, unfortunately, had lost the credibilty it once had. In a word, it became "problematic". Besides that, I just couldn't be bothered any more with alot of the grabage being posted there. Life is way too short. Hank's "safety hatch" opened up just in time!

Well I wont lie. I am not a fan of most types of MUGS other than kilts. I think sarongs have their place but other than that I dont like most MUGs or "male skirts." That being said I dont care if other people like them or dont have a problem with them. I just dont want them brought here b/c this is a kilts only forum. Thats all. No big deal.
Now on to the real question on my mind. I knew Tom was sick but I havent heard any recent news about him. I hesitate to ask, but is he alright at the moment?
Beannacht Dé,
Hank

I don't think we have to worry about any drag queens (or sarong wearers)showing up here, the name pretty much says that this is all about kilts. I do, however, like the look of cassocks.

I have pretty much given up as well, the MSM was indeed a fiasco. The tutu thing was not something I wanted to be associated with.

I've spent a lot less time on Kilt forums in general, but do visit Tom's a few times a week. Generally, nothing's happening. As long as kilted men go there, as a Kilt Seller, I have an interest in going, but other than that not much else.

the tutu is getting a kilt
Well guys... the skater from MSN is getting a kilt. It's almost complete and should be shipped out on Monday. He won the raffle for one of my kilts at the MSM dinner back in Feb. and he finally decided to claim his prize. Now if he decides to wear it, is another matter entirely.
It's a traditional length too!
cheers
Robert
(who better get some rest as he has a few kilts to complete by Monday)
