Kilt Making School in New York June 24-29 2012
Troy, New York
June 24-29 2012
If this is closer for you then Canada.....
it is alot of fun, alot of work and in one of the most beautiful old schools.
Room and board plus class $520 school dorm rooms
Judy Sullivan teaches the "Elsie / Thomas Gordons of Glasgow" method (What Barb does)
I can't get the damn file information thing to stick (I know my way around a mule, but not a computer)
so until I can figure out (Acrobat reader attachment) how to stick it here
give me a hollar if you want me to send it to you or answer any questions about this kilt camp

Just sent my deposit in! Bonus for me is that I can make a new kilt AND take my Scottish Award 1 Highlands dance test!

Hey, thanks for posting 'Tess. This is right up "street" / across town from me. Maybe, if anyone is interested - a kilt night in Troy? There are a few good bars/pubs that would be appropriate.

Thanks for getting that up Dixiecat. I am so glad you get to go!
Chris- a get together might be possible.
The first part of the week is best because after about the 3rd day everybody starts to panic and sewing becomes more important than sleep and eating......ah yes, I love kilt camp. swollen fingers and ankles from sitting on your butt for 12 hours.....

Just put my vacation request in for that week. Can't wait to meet you all in person!
And, am starting the hard practicing for the medal test. Scottish Award 1 is pretty tough for an old broad like me, a 6step fling, 6step Seann Truibhas, 4step sword, plus a reel. Hopefully I'll get lots of rest between dances. Now I just have to find a dance outfit to borrow after the tragic loss of my own outfit in January, stolen from airport security in Atlanta.

OMG Dixiecat
All I can say is YOU will have fun!
I can't imagine dancing tests and kilt making...and I have been to 6 kilt camps and have never brought a totaly compleated kilt home with me. I always figured it was because between the hours of "too late to sew straight" and breakfast, I try to fill up the time with (in this order) wine, showers, sleep.
You go girl, we will take notes for you. And P.S.....the dance instructers "unwind" with us kiltmakers....

No, oh goodness, no. I doubt I could keep up a pace of dancing AND sewing AND drinking (beer for me) all week long. The medal tests are Sunday morning before Camp starts. Due to my travels this year I missed medal testing during the fall tour, so I'm taking the opportunity to do it at the Camp. Practicing now to get it all over with. I've sent a request in for more info on the testing but haven't heard back yet. I'll have to get there Saturday night so that I can be on time for the test in the morning. Once the testing is done, it's all sewing for me. I need a new kilt!

That sounds even better than what I imagined. Get the really hard stuff over first and then you can relax.

Hey Teri!
So glad to see you on X-Marks!!! I had hoped to get to Troy again this year, but I'm having knee surgery on June 20 ... Last year it was TWO kids having weddings! I'm going to try to make contact with SKYPE during the course. Charlotte and May are the only ones I have on my Skype addresses who have added me to theirs - do you know if either of them are attending? Are you on Skype? I miss kilt camp so much when I can't get there, but say Hi to everyone for me. Ron (aka "Schnauzer Boy").
