A moment of sunshine in a sea of drizzle.
Here In UK, it feels like it's been raining for months. We had a smashin' weekend in March (which happily coincided with the first Ferintosh Burns Weekend in Dumfries and then this weekend just gone, it stopped raining for the better part of a whole day.
Keen to make the most of it we went off to "Old Holly Farm", a working farm near Garstang in Lancashire where visitors can engage with farm animals, buy local produce in the Farm shop (best home made ice-cream in Lancashire and some fantastic locally made cheeses, chutneys and jams) grab a brew and a bite in the cafe or set the kids loose in the "play barn". It's a nice way to spend an afternoon and an opportunity for a spot of quality family time on a nice day. Needless to say, Sunday it was hoyin' it down again. 'Twas a short-lived respite.
Anywhoo... Some pictures.

Walking through the fields with my daughter.

As I said, it's a working farm that has sheep and cattle, chickens and pigs...

... Alpacas... (quite frequently seen around the Lancashire countryside now) as well as rabbits, guinea pigs and baby chicks for little ones to stroke.

My girl was desperate to have a ride on Ginger (he's a bit taller than Paul, the other donkey)

She loved it and it was difficult to prize her away.

I introduced my son to the baby calves.

As well as the Lambs who seemed to have sussed the warmest place in the barn. It was like a scene from the nativity.

We had a go on the adventure climbing frame and slides.

Then we paused for a couple of photos before...

Grabbing a cream scone and coffee before heading home with a bag of nice goodies from the shop. Their free range eggs are tremendous...

It was a lovely day. If you're passing I recommend you pop in.

Lovely shots John, its great to see you and your family enjoying that one sunny day we had last Saturday. Its been unseasonably cold here in Scotland this year apart from those few good days we had in March. By now I'm convinced that global warming is a myth.
Alpacas are nowadays a common sight here in the south of Scotland too. They are bred for their wool.

Those kinds of places are fantastic, kids or no, and kids make them all the more fun. Looks like you guys did just the right thing for your break in the rain and you all look fantastic.

Great photos EB, nothing like a jaunt out into the country on a fine day and spend some quality time with the family. Two things puzzling me though, you have a MacLaren pusher but no MacLaren kilt, and you only had one serve of scones and cream??

Very nice shots of you and your lovely family. Thanks for sharing the day with us. BTW, your rain has parked itself here it would seem.

Great photos John. Hope you are all in good form.
I can't believe how warm and sunny it was in Dumfries in March and how cold and wet it has been since. We had hailstones here tonight.
