Wore it for the first time today, and it is my new Most Favoritest Kilt in the Whole World.

We took a 4-mile stroll on the Sawyer Camp Trail along Crystal Springs Reservoir, a "long loch" running south along the peninsula in San Mateo County. Never been there before and found it's nothing strenous: flat, and actually paved. Pretty locale, though.

    The place:

    The kilt:

And a pleat shot. I like that pleating to the red stripe a LOT on this tartan:

Got several favorable comments on the kilt, one from a park ranger. And as we were walking back to our car we passed a family with two young boys entering. The lads immediately asked their parents about the kilt, and as we walked on I heard the father explaining that it's a Scottish thing. One of the boys immediately followed up with, "Mom, can I get a bagpipe? Please?!?".

Perhaps a piper will come into being because of my walk today. May the gods be pleased to make it so.

Dale: What a beautifully wooded waterway! Your new kilt looks as natural in the outdoors as you do. I can't get over those great colors. Thanks for posting.

That must have been a great first outing in your new kilt. By the way, I like the way your flashes blend into the surroundings rather than contrast.

    Why thank'ee, John!

Getting totally away from the kilt for a moment, I thought the Bison hose would "tone well" with the British Tan safari shirt; but that the Navy garter ties would go well with the kilt and also -- whether I was wearing it or not -- the Navy "Seattle Wool Bomber Jacket" from Filson that you can see strapped to my Camelbak hydration pack.

Okay, looking at what I just said I can better understand why my SO occasionally asks me, "Are you SURE you're not gay? Well, I mean physically I know you're not, but, well, bi a little maybe?".

Yeah, I do understand that. But no. I'm not.

Getting back to the kilt "palette" for a second here, I think anything that would go well with the California State (modern colors) tartan would be just fabulous with this one.

Dale: I didn't know those were Bison hose from just looking at them. I think they look fine with your shirt. Thanks for mentioning them, because I have been interested in that color, but have only seen the little postage swatches which don't tell you much. I may have to get a pair of those. They would go well with a couple of kilts I own that show a couple of shades of brown.

I hadn't noticed your jacket, but now that you mention it, it appears go closely match your swatches. Great outfit for a hike!

    Dale,

Thanks for posting the photos! The kilt looks great! I'm glad you are enjoying it. Now that I am back from holiday, I have a lot more sewing to do.... now where did I put my needles?
