A boy, his new Artificer sporran, a USA Kilt, and one AWESOME hair cut

My son was given by our good friend Richard (aka way2fractious) a skunk pelt. For his 12th birthday I had that pelt made into a sporran by XMTS's own very talented Artificer.

This is an absolutely gorgeous piece. It was quite a thing to give him an heirloom quality sporran than will see him through the rest of his life. He can wear this wonderful bit of kit to any and all the big events that he will go to in Life. A Lifetime of wonderful kilted events lay ahead for this sporran. I'm sure my son will put it to very good use ( and I'm sure that Jock Scot will approve of giving a young man a quality bit of kit that will last him a lifetime!)

Here is a closer look at the sporran

My son took one look at his gift and proclaimed it "AWESOME"

I think the Artificer himself has some better detailed closeups of the sporran if anyone is interested. Hopefully he will consider posting them here.

It happens that my son had decided a couple of months ago that he was tired of long hair and wanted to cut it. Having heard about Locks of Love he really wanted to donate his hair to be made into a wig for people undergoing treatment for cancer. He let it grow out a bit and we did a little research. Our friend Diane (XMTS' Unaspenser) steered us towards Pantene's Beautiful Lengths program. They are the biggest donator of human hair wigs to the American Cancer Society.

With his hair the right length for donation it was time to cut it.

But to turn up the cool factor to 11 he did it kilted! (His USA Galbraith tartan PV kilt to be exact)

My lovely Flame-Haired Celtic Amazon Goddess was there to help

    Ready to mail to Pantene!

Back from his haircut at the stylist

    One cool kid!

I think my boy is pretty Awesome himself!

    Cheers

Awesome post Jamie! Beautiful sporran and a great thing he is doing with the hair donations... your son has a surplus of things I like, quality sporranage, and hair !

What a wonderful post, Jamie. A gift of a super sporran that with care will last for more than a lifetime. Also a home grown gift for the less fortunate amongst us. Fantastic.

Now could you whisper in the ear of the proud young man? I am sure that he has been reading carefully and putting into practice every word I say about matchy matchy stuff, but-------- it is really alright for the left and right trainer to match!

Very nice, sir! Well done to all of you. Awesome on the sporran, the haircut, and the cause! I'm very jealous of the lad for that skunk
