Military Box Pleat/British Army Issue on its way

I have the bug!! I made my first kilt, bought a cheep kilt now I'm waiting for British Army Military Tartan Kilt No1 Glasgow Size 8 that won't even fit me. I've done this to try to make the military box pleat by looking at this British Army issued kilt. this makes my 3rd kilt.

I've always wanted a Cameron of Erracht military style kilt. I owned an original MOD one back in the 1970s when my waist was 30" but I've gained a lot of weight over the years!
Here are nice closeup photos of the pleating

I could have sworn it was from Time Enough for Love: the Notebooks of Lazarus Long. ;-) I adore Robert A. Heinlein. Easily my favorite author, and eminently quotable.

Sorry for the derail. Back to topic: I really like the idea, and hope you'll show us pictures when you're finished.

I am free, no matter what rules surround me. If I find them tolerable, I tolerate them; if I find them too obnoxious, I break them.

I was hoping someone would comment on the "Time Enough for Love" Quote, my favorite author, and maybe the reason I like kilts. Someone else used one I wanted talking about his blaster under his kilt

The pleats I get, I'm wondering about the deep pleat and I think it has to have 31 pleats, how to do that at my measurements. Oh a shout out to you I used to live in San Pedro,CA across the Harbour

Lazarus is the only one I can think of off hand. He does so in Time Enough for Love, Methuselah's Children, To Sail Beyond the Sunset, and several others. I want to say that there were other characters doing so in Methuselah's Children, and maybe in others, too, but I'm not certain at the moment.

Joe, you do have the bug (but then again, who, among the members here, doesn't?). As for making the military box pleat, you may want to post the question on the DIY forum, if you haven't already. You're sure to get lots of help.

Anyway, a Size 8 has how big a waist? Will you selling that kilt once you're done with it?
