Just a heads up for you fellow Oregon/Washington people...... The Real McKenzies will be at the Doug Fir Lounge in Portland on May 19th. (Saturday night). Ticket price a measly FIFTEEN BUCKS. I've got my tickets!! Just thought some others around here might wish to know? I've been patiently waiting for these guys to blow through town for quite awhile personally. There's an opening band...... some girl band called "Civet" I believe. I'm stoked to finally see the McKenzies live!!
"Fide et Fortitudine" (fidelity & fortitude) ALBA GU BRAW!!!!!
Sweet, I may have to try and make that one!
love the real mckenzies, they need to play in Phoenix.......

The show was last night......fantastic. Got to chat with Paul McKenzie for a bit at the merchandise table. The guy runs it himself with a helper. Totally approachable and nice . I mean totally. The show was just great despite having three new guys in the band as he told me before the show. I don't know why he isn't more famous and well known. He just has a very riveting stage prescence. Reminds me of Jagger a bit in that regard. Anyway, if you live anywhere near Portland and missed this show you lost out since they don't come through here very often. Besides the band of course, there were probably only half a dozen guys wearing kilts at the event (myself and a pal included).

Oh, and a "P.S.", my buddy and I were, of course, kilted up "Mackenzie-style" with leather motorcycle jackets and glengarries and got a thumbs up and a "looking good lads" from Paul. Would have been nice to snap a pic with him but my phone is pretty retro and has no flash or anything and it was pretty dim lighting in there so it wouldn't have turned out. Bummer that.
