Yes, when the Lord Lyon recognized the Chief of the name he cast a pretty wide net. I don’t suppose anyone would give a particular branch or family any grief for using the tartan and badge they grew up with. As you say, that is that. In fact in photos I have seen from the last gathering there were more folks in the green than the red tartan.
