I'm going to jump in and take a guess; I have a feeling these may be bed curtains. I'll take another wild stab and also suggest they came from Falkland Palace, the bed of King James.
That's my 2 cents!

Good guess but wrong on both accounts.

What we know so far 27" wide per single piece joined to give 54" x 3 yards x 2. That's 2 pieces 54" x 9'! At no point did I say that the 2 were joined. So what do we have?
An enigma.

Oh come, come. Look at posts 3, 10, 11 and 12 again. Bring it all together and develop.

Well the sett is most interesting , please excuse my lack of knowledge in explaining what I see , a double pattern to the sett both horizontally and vertically and alternating color matches between each sett both horizontally and vertically , a bit unique , at least to me .
Perhaps the use of the two pieces be window treatments , i.e. drapes / curtains ?

I'm having a bit of trouble trying to understand what you mean here.

Excellent! Now develop that.

There wasn't too much attention payed to lining the sett up when joined which is interesting.
Can we see the edges of the first image please? It looks like some canvas is sewn on there.

Late to the party...
Hmmm, the edge baffles me. From what I see it has a really large sett for it being 57" x 9' . I thought I read that there were two pieces joined, but was later stated that they were not? Did I read that correctly?
