    Kilt Raises £10,000 pounds

I found this on the Scotland Today site for Scotland TV...URL below...

    http://scotlandtoday.scottishtv.co.u..._1&newsid=4042

"The most famous kilt in Scotland has raised £10,000 pounds for childrens charities.

First Minister Jack McConnell's pin striped effort was put up for auction over the weekend, and today he said he was glad all the publicity had lead to such a substantial donation.

Rod Stewart's girlfriend, Penny Lancaster is thought to have been among the bidders, but the new owner has chosen to remain anonymous."

No way that was Hamish! We all know he is a sensible man. He would have likely bought dozens of kilts for a fraction of that price.

Seriously, this is the guy that buys 3+ haggis because they are on sale, then freezes the rest.

Believe it or not, but I really do not have that sort of money - even to spend on a kilt! Besides: I already have a grey pinstripe kilt suit from Howie Nicholsby! Wow! To think mine could be worth £10,000 too!!

Here's the pic. to prove it***, followed by the report in today's "The Scotsman" newspaper......

(***No pic. I'm afraid - I just cannot get it to load, but it's on page six of my Photo Album at IMFF.NET!! Link below.)

"Jack's fashion faux pas raises a pretty Penny

    HAMISH MACDONELL

PENNY Lancaster, the underwear model, has failed in a bid to buy Jack McConnell’s infamous pin-striped kilt for her partner, Rod Stewart.

Lancaster bid £8,000 for the First Minister’s kilt at a charity auction in Glasgow last night but was beaten by a mystery buyer who offered £10,000 for the most-talked-about piece of national dress in Scotland.

Whether Lancaster’s rock star partner would have asked Do You Think I’m Sexy? after trying it on will now never be known.

Mr McConnell was pilloried when he appeared in the short kilt with a baggy white shirt at a fashion event in New York in April. The Edinburgh firm behind Howie Nicklesby’s design, Geoffrey (Tailor), donated the kilt for the Entrepreneurial Exchange Ball in Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel.

The ball raised more than £600,000 for children’s charities. A portrait of Henrik Larsson by Peter Howson and a pair of Euro 2004 final tickets both raised £40,000."

While on the subject of inappropriate kilts, is anyone brave (or daft) enough to try the rainbow kilt currently on offer on ebay uk?

I guess Glen's answer was a little more diplomatic than mine.
