Thank you
I wanted to take the time to say thank you for carrying the Cochrane Muted tartan in your store. (You are calling it Cochrane Reproduction Colours.) You are the first Kilt maker that I have found to not only carry the tartan but also display it on your site. We are a small Clan with few members, so it means a lot. I have already posted your info and site for web address with the tartan on the Clan Cochrane FB pages. I will also let our Clan Treasurer to put it in our newsletter. I've yet to get a kilt off of you, but when I go to purchase my Cochrane Ancient I will be coming to your shop.

Thanks John. The reason we call it Reproduction is that this is the term old Dixon Colton Dalgliesh used when he invented the idea of using this yarn palette, which the other mills then copied using terms like Muted. You'll find the full story at http://dcdalgliesh.co.uk/reproduction.rpy
It's just for people like you that we've made such a huge investment in getting these tartans online, so that every family or clan can find their tartans in all the traditional colour palettes, and no longer have to rely on the relatively tiny range of what one of the big mills chooses to stock. It's great that it's appreciated.

Just a little point to clarify, DC Dalgleish are not "carrying " the tartan in stock , but are prepared to weave it, infact they will weave just about anything. Many of us have used them to weave a special design or special colourway and I am certainly happy that they offer this, and long may it continue, but they don't keep huge stocks, it wouldn't be possible in truth, they produce most to order, so make sure you leave enough time if you want to order. My current special order with them took a month to get the colours and now am waiting 16 weeks, so it's not fast, but the cloth is lovely to work with, so worth teh wait.
Nick has been working hard to compile a master list of just about every tartan, and credit to him as well.
On a related point , Nick, can you tell us more about the original sample of cloth, I have heard that it had been lost or returned, I know all of us would love to see it, have you any more information please?

Paul, thanks for clarification but I still stand in appreciation. DC is the only place I can find our muted tartan without asking for it, trying to explain it, or sending someone to our Clan website. I will be promoting ScotWeb to our Clan.

John
John , I recently ordered an 8 yd Balmoral category kilt from Nick at ScotWeb in Montgomery Blue Green tartan ( my avatar ) and the quality was superb . I choose the option of machine made along with hand made.
I was very pleased ,the pleating , the attention to detail and the most important part , the
quality under the back lining above the pleats . This area had all
the quality elements , sewn down pleats , stabilizer , heavy
transition panel and the lining itself was double layered !
I don't claim to be an expert on kilts , I only own four kilts and there are way more people here that know more than myself .
I only know this , I am 54 and have been kilted since I was 14 ( 40 years ) , and the kilt I got from Nick is the best I own .
There are many great kiltmakers here and I wouldn't be afraid to order from any of them !
I just wanted to weigh in and let you know that Nick and ScotWeb did me well .
Best to ya , Mike
