That must feel real good Derek, in more ways than one!
I wear a kilt whenever I feel like it. I generally do not wear one at work because I'm always down on my knees or up on a ladder.
I also generally do not wear one while cooking or doing major house cleaning or out in the garden. I generally only like to get dressed once a day, so one hour of non kilt friendly time can equal a day without a kilt.
I generally wear a kilt when I dress up to go out to a nice dinner or other event.
Having said all of that I have spent 6 of the past 10 days kilted.

I tend to wear mine for special events or nice dinners. Probably a couple times a month. I can not wear a kilt to work, so that is out of the question--not sute I would anyway, to be honest.

I wear mine whenever I feel like it really. About the only time I specifically forgo them is when I have to dress in three minutes or less (I take my time with the accessories getting dressed, so even when I have everything all ready it usually take me 5-10 minutes to put it on minimum). In the past few months, I had multiple weeks where I wore them daily, and then other months I wore them not at all.

I'm fairly new to kilting, but I think of my tartans as "daily wear" as opposed to "special occasion wear". I've worn them to work (various days, not just Friday), to dinner (night out or just hungry), spending the day with the wife (shopping, urban-hiking, people-watching, what-have-you) and "just because they're comfy".

We go to Ren Faires and Celtic festivals too. We've gone out to hear local music. We've gone out for ice cream. In other words, any time I could be wearing pants, I might be kilted. Or not. I have no hard-and-fast rules about wearing them. They truly are (to me) an article of clothing available to me in my wardrobe. I don't say this to diminish them, but I also don't think of them as "special attire". That's what my tux is, special attire. My kilts are an extension of my clothes, a testament to my family history, and a gesture of respect to my Mother.

    See? Just clothing ...

I wear it whenever I feel like it. Usually on days when it's cool. Though, people ask me if a festival is going on when I wear it. (Though, when I wear the kilt, I'm usually wearing a tweed Argyle jacket with a tweed waistcoat and flatcap. So it doesn't look like "festival wear" to me.)

I will wear a kilt to symphony, dinner out, sometimes to work, often to choir practice, most sundays, to the pub, family gatherings, school concerts, and the local coffee shop. That's not everyday and not all the time. But, whenever I get a chance and the situation is appropriate. I own two clan tartan kilts, one shadow PV, one Rkilt hemp and a recently acquired Rkilt Tweed.
