The cut works with the pockets flaps. The Argyle jacket flaps are, from what I have seen in the pictures, are only slightly higher. To me it is not bad. The flaps pocket are square cut and not the typical Argyle cut. I'll try to get details in the picture.
The only other thing I forgot to add was the coat had the typical single slit up the back and not the dual side slits of the Argyle. I figure I know this and only a few others might spot it but it's not a problem with me.
