I thought that I would bump this back to the top of every one's attention.
I will be opening registration for Kilt Kamp on 2 April 2012.
50% down to register, with the remainder due NLT 15 July.
It's time to get your travel and lodging reservations arranged.

Now accepting registrations
Kilt Kamp 2012
Victoria, BC, Canada At Freedom Kilts
Classes will start on the morning of Sunday, the 5th of August 2012
. Classes will conclude the evening of Thursday, the 9th of August 2012.
If you have ever wanted to try your hand making any type of kilt from a full Tank to an X-Kilt, this Kamp will be a must.
Mark your calendars and start putting your pennies aside.
Barb Tewksbury, co-author of "The Art of Kiltmaking" will be our guest speaker on Traditional Kilt Making.
You may sign up for the Traditional Kilt course or the Contemporary Kilt course, but you can move freely between the two. In effect you are getting both courses for the price of one.
If you will be making a Traditional Kilt the book "The Art of Kiltmaking" By Barb and Elsie Streumeyer is the primary reference. You should bring your copy if you have one or we have a supply here at Freedom Kilts.
You will also need to provide your own fabric. You can bring it with you, mail it to the kilt shop in advance, or we can order it for you and have it waiting.
You will need your own needles, thread and thimble.
If you do not have you own stabilizer, interfacing, and lining fabric we have supplies at the shop.
The same goes for straps and buckles. Bring your own, or purchase them after you get here.
We are hiring the hall right next to the kilt shop as additional work space and will provide tables and chairs for everyone.
Your one Kilt Kamp fee will cover both courses and you may freely go back and forth as much as you wish.
We are now accepting registrations for Kilt Kamp.
Cost for the 5 day, kiltmaking course is $350.00cdn.
We are limiting registrations to 8 for the Traditional Kiltmaking course and 6 for the Contemporary course.
To reserve your place at Kamp please send an email to: steve@freedomkilts.com
Minimum cost to register is 1/2 the total or $175.00cdn with the remainder due by the start of Kamp. You can, of course, pay for the entire course in one payment if you wish.
If you need lodging for the course I can help with hotel, and B&B listings.
There is a good neighborhood pub and a coffee shop available.
We hope to hold a Kilt Night in conjunction with Kilt Kamp with special guest performer. You do not have to register or take the course to attend the Kilt Night.

We have an update for Kilt Kamp.
Bobbie and I have decided to leave the 2 bedroom apt. above the kilt shop un-rented and use the space for Kilt Kamp.
The living room will be the site for the Traditional Kilt making courses. It has a full kitchen and full bath.
There are also two bedrooms which can be used by those attending Kamp instead of having to get a hotel room and travel from downtown to the kilt shop each day.
If anyone would like to reserve one of the bedrooms please contact me.

So, who's going and what is your tartan of choice? I just took receipt of four yards of Strome weight Isle of Skye. Got my book, hair canvas, and tailor's chalk. Just need buckles, lining, thread, and needles and I'm all set to sew.

Steve:
what materials will we need to bring, for your contemporary kilt making course? I have some heavy denim, for the kilt, and two different type of buckles ( the type used for traditional , plus the plastic snap type buckles, as used on packs, etc) ...???

I would bring your fabric. (4 yards double width is usually enough but Contemporary Kilts often use a bit more than Traditional ones) Or I have any of my stock fabrics in bolts.
Thread to go with your fabric. Matching or contrasting. (if you buy Gutermann brand in the small 100mtr spools you will probably need at least 4 spools.)
Fasteners. These can be buttons, straps, velcro, anything as long as it will hold your kilt up.
Something to write with would be useful.
Everything else I have here. Don't worry about tools, heck, you probably can't take them on a plane anyway.

I wear the kilt because: Swish + Swagger = Swoon.

If you're not picky about a particular tartan, I also have a few lengths that I'm happy to sell. Just PM me.

Hi all,
Steve's really busy, and he hasn't gotten a list to me yet of who's coming to Kilt Kamp. So, I thought I'd post a list of the lengths of tartan that I mentioned above. PM me if you're interested. All are 4 yards, double width (enough for an 8-yard trad kilt) unless otherwise stated.
16 oz tartans:
MacDonald of Sleat
Spirit of Scotland
Modern Hunter
Modern Red MacIntosh
Modern MacDonald
Modern Cameron of Erracht ( 4 yards: enough for a box pleated kilt)
13-14 oz:
County Dublin
Ancient Anderson
New York City
