    Lifetime Sporrans

I have three "lifetime" sporrans. One is made from deer hide and has a brass cantle. One is a full mask muskrat sporran, and the other is seal skin with a silver cantle. The newest (the seal skin) was a gift in 1969 from a girlfriend. I guess approaching a half century of regular use qualifies these as "life time" sporrans. I think the key to having a lifetime sporran is to buy the best you can possibly afford and take care of it.

That was my thought when I bought my Full Mask Raccoon. My other one is a $30 ebay dress in white rabbit, but it is all leather, so it should last a long time.
When I showed my son the raccoon, I told him it can be past down . I think I know what he was thinkin.

good program by Prince Charles on tuesday evening on his family, kilts everywhere. At his investiture it looked like the three button tunic of the Scots Guards. He certainly wears the kilt well.Lets hope He is King one day, a fitting one to follow our Great Queen. How lucky we are

This is why I like the man. He goes to Scotland, he wears the kilt - no ifs, no buts, no maybes - he wears the kilt. Even when no one else is.

    Regards

Good point Chas. However, I would venture to say that for most of us, most of the time, no one else is wearing a kilt in any given social or business setting we find ourselves in. I have read here that there are members who only wear their kilts to Scottish themed events and really look forward to those infrequent events because they get to wear their kilt.

No way of knowing short of asking him, but I wonder if he looks forward to going to Scotland so that he has an excuse to wear the kilt?

Looking back to the previous page and those two pictures of Charles wearing Balmoral tartan: I wonder where the little boy’s kilt is now. I trust it is being kept in mothballs for the next young prince.
And while I am not personally a fan of Balmoral tartan, I do like the effect Rothesay creates by wearing claret hose with the kilt.

    Mike

I have always thought the Balmoral tartan was rather smart - especially with a pair of claret hose in which you speak of. Steel grey, with bits of claret in a chequered pattern on the cuff looks quite nice too.

    Cheers,
