    Brindle and white

He is great, I always wanted a lazy dog that would not be bouncing all over the house. Let me tell you he is far from bouncing all over except on his bed heheh he is my hero i hope to one day be able to just lay around all day like him one day.

Miah, you picked a great breed.
I also thought I would be getting a lazy dog. My mistake. Beefy has more energy than bulldogs are supposed to have. I guess my energy has rubbed off on him a bit.
I was going to start telling you about all the great things about bulldogs, but then I remembered that I was starting this post because you have one. You've seen, you've heard, you know.

2 lurchers here, one's a rescue dog. He'd been left in a garage for 18mnths and was thin and covered with sores and whip marks when we got him. He used to cower in a corner when I came into a room and didn't wag his tale for the first 12mnths.
As I type he's sprawled on the settee and has covered himself with the throwover with just his head showing and a stupid dog grin on his face. The other is on an easy chair flat on his back and grinning too.
    Cheers Rhino

I lost my 14yr old Siberian about 6 months ago. It was one of the most horrifying experiences of my life. I was totally unprepared for how emotional it was. We have our daughters 2yr old pit/mixed breed who runs with me at the park 3 days a week but it's just not the same.

I have had to put down two dogs in my life time. I was lucky enough to have these animals for the majority of my youth. The only thing stopping me from buying another dog now, is knowing that my kids will have to experience the lose of a pet one day. Maybe when we get into the new house in 2 weeks.

I, too, have had to put several of my best companions in life put down. It is an unfortunate and painful part of life. I found a poem from our local Greyhound rescue effort that hits the spot:

    Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
