Rereading Shattered Sword, it as this is e-written, is the 70th year after the Battle of Midway.

Never, ever gets less intense, hearing again, how after USAAF, USMC and USN sacrificial aerial attack after attack, Lt Cdrs Clarence McClusky and Max Leslie led their SBD Dauntlesses from Yorktown and Enterprise into the vertical dives which changed the history of the world, in 4 minutes. IJN carriers Akagi, Kaga and Soryu went from being the pride of the imperial fleet to floating, erupting volcanos. Hiryu joined them in the afternoon, when gallant USS Yorktown also received grevious wounds.

Rereading Dunkirk, 1940. 72 years after. The Royal Navy and many small vessels evacuated the BEF from beaten France, covered by the Hurricanes and Spitfires of the Royal Air Force, albeit at the cost of all their equipment.

Eternal honour and thanks to all who served and gave some or all, for freedom.

Just finished Three Junes by Julia Glass. I laughed. I cried. A very good read.

"An astonishing first novel that traces the lives of a Scottish family over a decade as they confront the joys and longings, fulfillments and betrayals of love in all its guises."

Just finished up Amber Benson's delightful 'How to be Death'. I've been reading a not very engrossing book about religion, but I'm putting it down because I got my copy of 'The Neutronium Alchemist', book two of Peter F. Hamilton's monster Night's Dawn Trilogy, that'll keep me busy for a while.

Midway through a series of novels by author Bruce Alexander (first entry is Blind Justice) featuring Sir Julian Fielding, murder mysteries set in London during the "Runner" days of law enforcement. The one I just finished included a character who could be recognized by his "plaid waistcoat in the Scottish fashion."
