That surely would be a sight with two kilted guys running down the street with their kilts up.

That would be like a clip out of Benny Hill. Just add 3 or 4 London bobbies in pursuit.

It's almost Armstrong... except that Bubba's red stripe is through the green, not the blue. I'm 99% sure it's a real tartan (assigned to a name), but I don't have my swatch books here and I'm not going thru tartan finder for hours to find it.

Either way, it's a BEAUTIFUL tartan! I agree... pleat it regimental to the red. It will look awesome. That's how I usually pleat the "Gunn" tartan and people love it.

The thing I like about pleating Regimental or "military style" instead of "to the sett" is that the back of the kilt looks COMPLETELY different from the front. Some tartans look BETTER to the sett, but when I can, I like the regimental look.

Post pics when you're dlone making your kilt, bubba! What is the fabric? Wool, Cotton Poly, PV, ? Where did you get it?

There you go Bubba... you now have it on good authority. How can she refuse?

Rocky, it's a polester/rayon twill. I got it from Best Fabric, www.bestfabric.com . The pic of it they had on their site was pretty poor but the specific URL is http://www.bestfabric.com/cgi-bin/sh.../SID=646920039 . It cost $4.99 a yard and they will send swatches. I can say their service was very good.

    MacKinlay

    Hey,

I posted to the other string that I "thought" it was MacKinlay. Then I looked at your gallery pic. It IS MacKinlay. No doubt in my mind as my friend is getting that tartan as well (it's his Mom's maiden name).

Here's the link to the Tartan on the tartan finder...

You're the one with the fabric... is MacKinlay right?

The only difference is the blue and green on my fabric are a bit darker. Otherwise that's identical. Blu, you are persistant with a good eye.

I actually prefer the weathered or ancient colors to the modern on most tartans.
