Rocky's teflon treated PV - awesome - easy clean

When I took the SOS casual on a fishing trip,I got fish blood and slime on it (the pike I caught fliped out of the net and in my lap NOT FUN but funny)a little lake water to wash it off and a quick wash in the machine to rid the smell and all was well once more.

A thought - hang the creel off my sporran hangers?

Still concerned around the campfire though, (if we ever get enough rain to make it safe again.)
Cotton is still the safest there. Have to see if Scotchguard etc increases flamability. So far all the grease and grime from cooking and campsite has come out of the 100% cotton Utilikilts with pretreating. A couple of times twice thruogh the wash.

It's Martan Mills or where it says is teflon coated. 8 oz might make a good swim kilt?

Any kilt makes a good swim kilt, just hang it on a tree and swim...

Never really thought about it before but all that Teflon is made by the company I work for, actually the same devision that I work for.

Is it sprayed on or bathed in it ? Do you know if the treatment goes away ? or does it need to be re done ?

If fabric conditioner is used, that will remove some or all of the coating, there are sprays that can be bought to re coat items, but i've always been rather hesitant about using them, and never really felt the need with the use my kilts get!

The teflon is applied at the fabric factory ( in this case Marton Mills ) to the PV for anti pilling first and stain resistance as a nice side effect. I think the only things that harm it is high temperature washing and fabric softeners. Teflon dosen't stick well to anything including itself. The bond to the fabric is mechanical not chemical.

Polyester is very strong and very limp.
Viscose is s specific process for extracting cellulose fiber from the plant to make rayon - developed in the UK. It is blended to "stiffen" the poly and make it act more like wool.
MM then treats with resins and teflon. The resins make it wrinkle resistant but holds a pleat. The teflon stops the pilling that this blend would normally have.
