Congratulations! The fact that the quote was at least semi-accurate means that the reporter was paying more attention than is usual.

The quote does no such thing. Purcell's quote addresses that issue. Yours, separated from that issue by a paragraph, is on a completely different topic. Did you say the words in the quote, or didn't you? If you did, the quote is accurate, not "semi-accurate"

You are correct, that was my mistake. The actual words attributed to me, in quotes, are mine. The reason for my confusion is that I actually contributed more to the article than the single sentence in quotes, and so in my mind parts of it are "my quotes" even if not attributed.

In particular, the reporter asked for my input on the statement that "tartans, the plaid pattern or cloth seen most often on kilts, didn't become a widespread feature of Scottish culture until the 18th century." Part of the input I gave her was to change her phrasing to "clan tartans" because tartans certainly were woven and worn in Scotland prior to the 18th century, just not the named and symbolic tartans we know today. She chose not to, however, which is why I described it as "semi-accurate."

But you are correct, the actual sentence in quote attributed to me is accurate.
