Hi folks. Here's the latest in the saga...
Dad's been home for a couple of weeks now. He was in an inpatient rehab hospital for about 2 weeks after a few days in hospital following the stroke. His left side is still very weak, but he's able to stand on his own and take a few steps with a walker. His cognitive and speech abilities have been unaffected, just numbness/weakness on his left side. Things are tingling periodically, which is supposed to be a good sign (an indication the brain's rewiring itself) and he's able to move his left hand/arm more. Still can't grip anything because he can't feel it and doesn't have much strength (so no typing, etc.). He's doing outpatient rehab a couple of times a week, plus working on things at home. We converted the living room on the first floor to his bedroom since he can't get up the stairs.
Mom called just a little while ago to tell me he's getting a port put in today (as I type, in fact) for chemo and/or other future IV treatments. Knew it was coming, but didn't know when insurance would OK it.
Thanks for your continued support/prayers.
John

Thanks for the update. It is good to hear there is progress even if I'm sure it seems to him that it is painfully slow.
