Thanks for the support, folks. Got some good news today.

The urologist scoped everything in his purview and determined that there is no bladder cancer nor any bladder infection. Apparently, the blood and clots are just due to a rough catheterization. (OUCH! )

Dad also saw two physical therapists, one for his left arm and one for his left leg. The leg therapist got him standing with a walker and, with assistance locking his knee, he managed to take a step!

He's also moved his left arm on his own. Mom said that when he was sitting up in the chair today, his arm slipped down between the pillow helping to hold him upright and the chair arm. Dad managed to get his arm back on top of the pillow (without grabbing it with his right hand ), and moved his fingers a little.

Dad's also in a little bit better spirits, but he's still frustrated that he's having to stay in the hospital and won't be going right back home. He's also still numb on his left side - no sensation whatsoever.

So... whatever everyone's doing, it's got to be doing some good!

Hi folks. Here's the latest in the saga...

Dad's been home for a couple of weeks now. He was in an inpatient rehab hospital for about 2 weeks after a few days in hospital following the stroke. His left side is still very weak, but he's able to stand on his own and take a few steps with a walker. His cognitive and speech abilities have been unaffected, just numbness/weakness on his left side. Things are tingling periodically, which is supposed to be a good sign (an indication the brain's rewiring itself) and he's able to move his left hand/arm more. Still can't grip anything because he can't feel it and doesn't have much strength (so no typing, etc.). He's doing outpatient rehab a couple of times a week, plus working on things at home. We converted the living room on the first floor to his bedroom since he can't get up the stairs.

Mom called just a little while ago to tell me he's getting a port put in today (as I type, in fact) for chemo and/or other future IV treatments. Knew it was coming, but didn't know when insurance would OK it.

    Thanks for your continued support/prayers.
    John

Thanks for the update. It is good to hear there is progress even if I'm sure it seems to him that it is painfully slow.
