    bonnet advice, not kilt advice

I have an upcoming outdoor formal event where I shall be wearing my Prince Charlie (green) and fly plaid, kilt & plaid Stewart Hunting anc. For the bonnet I was planning on my diced Glengarry but was wondering if I could wear my Robert Mackie Balmoral (saxe blue) instead. What thinks the rabble?

I like a green PC - I have one myself. We see to many black PCs. But without seeing it together with the Balmoral, I would have some reservations.

Any chance of a picture of the two together - you don't have to be wearing them?

    Regards

Outdoors during the day, my vote is the Mackie bonnet, slightly more material to cover the ears, and a couple shades lighter may be a little cooler.

Now that I look at that first pic I am leaning towards wearing the Balmoral. It picks up the blue from the kilt nicely. Yes?

    Sailor,

It works with the kilt fine. I don't think that there is any problem there. The problem is the great big slab of green between the Balmoral and the kilt.

Eternal triangle dilemma. The way I see it -

    Kilt + PC = OK
    Kilt + Balmoral =OK
PC + Balmoral = I just don't know. (Blue and Green should never be seen, unless there is something in between.)

I suppose in the end it comes down to this - no one will question you. So, go for it!

    Regards

    Chas

Well, he'll have his mug between them, won't he?

I too tend to think of the PC and Balmoral being at odds with one another. But it's been done before:

And he's even wearing what appears to be a fly plaid with it. One pertinent question here: is this 'outdoor formal event' during the day or in the evening? A PC and fly plaid seem out of place during the day.
