Interesting idea
Son was going to the mall tonight, kilted of course. Here's the outfit he decided to be seen in public wearing.

He still likes to wear the sporran chain on occasion, and the kilt he's wearing was a Stillwater thrifty. Since that one doesn't have any belt loops, he found a way to hold his sporran in place.

May not be for everyone, but I like it!

Very clever and fits his style exactly!
My method of keeping the sporran from falling off was a little different. More time consuming and not as attractive, but it adheres to traditional highland wear much more closely: Eat a full bag of chips (crisps) every day for two weeks, dropping each chip on the floor before eating it. Squat, grab it, stand, eat, and repeat. Between the constant labor and surplus calories, a proudly massive pair of buttocks will appear in the rear. Sporran ain't dropping off that shelf!
Or use metal rings.

The young fellow needs to even up those waist wraps so they don't stick up like that. Otherwise fine looking. I hope he understands what tartan he is wearing and treats it with respect.

Belt looks great, fits with the style. I'd personally lower the socks though...it looks a bit like a combination between an awkward sports outfit and an oldschool rock fan.... but that's besides the point - belt is cool.

The curse of the in-between years. My son suffered as well. Chest, waist and hips, all the same size. He was forever hitching his trousers up.
A nice inventive fix - well done him!

I gotta admit - I like it too. Putting his own style on an ancient garment.
