    Angry Lack of dress sense

Has anyone seen the UK advert for GU. I had to search to find that it is advert for www.gupuds.com as it is not clear form the advert that it is for puddings. It starts with a kilted gentleman going up some steps and shot from a low angle for some reason. He is wearing white hose with ghillie brogues which are tied at the back of his calf not the side or the front as is normal. To cap it all his so called flashes seem to be two pieces of thin ribbon about 6 or seven inches below the turn up of the hose. It looks ridiculous; so as much as I like puddings I will be boycotting that particular one.

It seems like a quirky little film saying without saying 'go ahead, look up, or have fun on or give in to' these various things. Check out Mr. Bare Legs, spray the lady in the chaise, pity the woman with her tag showing, mess up the leaf pile, knock down the tyke's dominoes, eat the decadent pudding. I kind of like it:

Ah, and the title on youtube is GU urge.

I don't care for the name... Gü sounds like Goo, I think. Not the right connotation in English for a delicious pudding.

I think that what they are trying to convey is "naughty indulgence".

The problem that many food manufacturers have is that food is seen as either 'healthy' or 'tasty' - not both. If they cannot compete on health grounds then they go down the tasty route.

So the message is 'you shouldn't really - but go on'.

The other thing is that Gü desserts are slightly more expensive than others of a comparable size and taste, giving the impression that they are somewhat better.

    Regards

    Chas

Funny, just yesterday I bought those in a local supermarket. Never saw them before.

I had never heard of GU puddings nor had I seen the advert until I came upon this thread. Truly bizarre, unlikely to entice me to try their products even if I could find them in my local supermarket.

"Pud" is also slang for the male member. Sounds like a not top drawer company....

I had the same take on this as Chas had. The maker says: "Our lovely new TV advert about all things irresistible. Go on, give in!" Silly and maybe even stupid from our perspective, but probably a marketing ploy that works these days.
