It's Arrived!!!
Greetings,
FINALLY! After many fruitless searches, I received my first ex-MoD sporran today from Stirlingshire, Scotland. As to be expected (and was clearly stated by the seller), the heavily used condition of the bag is fairly typical of a sporran of this age and style. However, the brass cantle is in great shape and opens beautifully. I have been discussing commissioning details with Artificer, for a new leather bag in a possible chestnut, or tan colour. The sporran bag will be in either a Jacobean style, or a simple 3-tassel front - I haven't decided yet. The ex-MoD sporran and the re-bagging is a birthday present from my bonnie wife, Stephanie.
It is now off to Artificer to take its rightful place in the queue!
Cheers,

Nice one! Excellent find. Having followed Scott's (the Artificer's) various construction threads, especially his MoD cantle pieces, I know you are going to be delighted with the end result however you decide to have it constructed. The Gentleman has a boundless talent and I am enthralled by the work he does.
You are going to keep the old bag as a memento though aren't you. 'Tis a piece of history you have there...
or should that read, more rubbish we can't bear to throw away...

Thanks, John. Yes, I will definitely be keeping the old bag. When I opened the cantle, there was a piece of old Black Watch tartan inside! Scott is a true artist with boundless talent, indeed. I am looking forward to the end result!

No doubt. She gets you a birthday present like that, she's definitely worth keeping around!
Congrats, Kyle. You must be excited! Make sure Scott posts at least a few pictures of his progress just to keep the masses sated.
