Connection
Hell-o all,
Last night (Friday) my book group met. We had a visitor who is thinking about joining and wanted to see how things worked with us. Ian (the visitor) just moved here from Vancouver. When he saw me kilted he had to tell me what he saw at some bar in Vancouver, yes you guessed it he observed the kilt night in Vancouver, he seemed astonished that I started naming names, startled he wondered how I knew. I mentioned the forum, we talked about kilts, and his heritage, thus deciding that he too needs to be kilted. So just wanted you all know (especially the Vancouver guys) that the influence of kilting is growing. What a great feeling!

This is very true, Glen. You kilt up and go out and about your business never knowing how it might affect someone. I've heard comments come back through the grapevine about some "weirdo", (me), around our neighborhood that wears a kilt. (Gaasp, "For shame". ) But on the whole, I get many more compliments than negative remarks. We wearers of kilted attire are needles in a mow of trousers but we are indeed having a positive influence overall. Mostly we are experiencing that little extra joy in our short lives known as the kilt.

That's very cool! The Kilts Night Regulars will be tickled pink!
Here's an older story sent to me from Dan Prenevost while he was waiting for his kilt:
Bear,
Hey did I tell you that I ran into a guy here in Dallas that was wearing one of your fabulous Bear Kilts? His name was Mark Morgan. I could tell it was one of your kilts right off from the frayed edges. He was shocked when I told him that I loved his Bear Kilt. He was floored in fact! I had found one of my kilted Brethren! By the way...how is my kilt coming along? Just wondering when the Jones will end...

Yesterday a cashier at Safeway told me I missed a guy in a Utilikilt by 10 minutes.
Today, my wife saw a guy in a black kilt at Safeway. She didn't think it was a Utilikilt because it didn't have the pockets.
Aside from the obvious good news that there are guys wearing their kilts, there are guys wearing their kilts to do everyday things like shopping.

Bear, it's curious but, in all the years I have been kilted, I still have not casually seen another one unless he was a busker in London or Edinburgh, or a friend (or a group of friends) I happened to be with at the time!

Ham,
It's common on a Kilts Night to bump into a kilted guy on the Granville Stroll. This is about 2 AM in the heart of Vancouver.
Of course, that one guy had his rented kilt on backwards but for the most part they seem to know what they're doing.
When we told him his kilt was on backwards, he lamented about all those old, Scottish ladies he'd been dancing with that evening.
"They were laughing at me!" We didn't laugh until he left, either.
Other than Kilts Night, I always seem to just miss the other kilted guys.
