Well without trying to stir the pot any more than it is, I too see the original post as at least disingenous. Sorry my friend, but yes, a Canadian and a British Subject, I do take some umbrage at the tone. Not a very pastoral response, but definitely an honestly loyal one.

I for one understand one's "fussing" over their leaders.
To me this is one of those questions put out there just to start something.
I love the dichotomy of posing the question and then warning to be neutral so as not to go to the cool off corner.
And I think the Duke of Rothesay is the epitome of proper kilt wearing.
I apologize if I've offended anyone here. I've never been known as being velvet tongued, but I did not mean any harm. This was not meant to start anything with anyone. It was just a question and I gave a little back story from what I've been told. I just wanted a broad spectrum of opinions from the rabble that are members of the commonwealth. To those of you that have, thank you.
I'm not sure what "my version of American" is. If you mean the well traveled, former Marine, and curious about others views, I guess you're spot on.
I also did not mean intent to insult the royal family in any way.

And Americans who idolize the presidency? Come, come, now! To suggest it doesn't happen is chosen blindness.

British here... Do I have to justify the Monarchy?
Odd that this should be posted on July 4th however... Just like another inopportunely timed email that I received from HR on the 3rd (there's gonna be trouble ahead methinks...)

It was just an inquiry. I wanted other opinions other than my two Great Grandfather's and two Grandfather's. I sent a message to request this thread removed. Sorry to find so much of the rabble so thin-skinned.

I have trimmed the off-topic posts that appeared after this point in the thread.
It seems a propos to allow the OP to have the final word on this matter, and I have now closed it as per the OP's request.
To all those who have contributed meaningful responses, I thank you for participating.
