WELSH RUGBY SCARF 2012 ... a travel log in pictures.

The Welsh Rugby Scarf has arrived safe and sound in Connecticut. He looked a bit knackered by all his travels so we decided on a quiet afternoon by the pool where I will soon be joining him with a fresh margarita. We have a busy weekend planned so more photos will be forthcoming.

The Welsh Rugby Scarf's visit to Olde New England begins with a good old fashioned 4th of July celebration. This is a concert in a town park with the U.S. Coast Guard Band followed by 4th of July fireworks (yes a wee bit early). The park fills up early so we got ourselves a nice spot:

The evening began with rum Mai Tai's, here being enjoyed by my wife

The band played under a 3/4 moon on a cloudless (very warm) evening

I was looking for two pretty girls to welcome the old boy and found two lively young lasses a bit damp from all their dancing - this is Sarah and Lauren

and of course the grand finale - the fireworks

Last night the Scarf made a trip to the University of Connecticut where my daughter is in the Honors School of Fine Art. She stays on campus all summer to work so we went up for dinner. UConn, as we all affectionate call it here, is ranked in the top 20 of all public universities in the U.S. (U.S. News and World Report) and is the largest university in New England. Sorry for the lack of kilts in my photos but with temps in the mid90's (F) or 35C all weekend it is just too hot.

This is a bronze of Jonathan the Husky - the UConn mascot

Gampel Pavilion - the center of the college basketball universe. UConn has won more Div. I men's and women's championships in the past 20 years than any other university and is still the only program to win both in the same year - GO HUSKIES!

And so, we come to the end of the visit here in Connecticut. The Scarf will be on its way tomorrow and continues heading north. I very much appreciate having the Scarf visit for a few days and hope you enjoyed our addition to his travels.
