My files have square labels and I can see nothing like that. No, I have no cables coming out/in on my computer other than the power one. My computer is about 3/4 years old and no, I do not use the keys to control the thing. I do have a screen thingy that moves the arrow around though, if thats what you mean.

Jock,
Sounds like you have a laptop/notebook computer, correct? If so, that screen thingy you use to move the cursor is a touch pad, and is the equivalent of a mouse.
Can you tell me what version of Windows you are using and what version of Internet Explorer? In Internet Explorer, if you click the Help menu, then about, it will tell you what version.
And what you say you are doing, ctrl-c to copy the IMG code, then ctrl-v to paste it into the post is correct. Just not sure why it is erasing things when you go back and forth. If you can let us know what version of Internet Explorer you are using, it will help in trouble shooting.

Just so you know, I have just tried to post a picture on the " fly fishing kilted" thread. Yet again, between writing a few words of introduction and then going to photobucket and returning to xmarks the whole shooting match has gone.

If I understand correctly you're opening Xmarks, writing your intro, then going to Photobucket in the same window (the same screen)? Is that correct? Then returning to Xmarks in the same screen?
There's a more straightforward direction to do what Steve was recommending with the tabs. At the top of your screen you'll see different menus, correct? File, Edit, View...that sort of thing? Click on "File" and you should see among the choices either "New Tab" or "New," which you would click, then choose Tab.
Alternately, hold down the CTRL key and the letter T at the same time, and this will open a new tab...basically a new page within which to work while still leaving your active Xmarks page open.
Please let me know if those options work. This is kind of what I do for a living. That, and open webmail accounts for old ladies.

Well thank you. Just give me a while to digest your advice and I will give it a go. I still wonder though, why what has worked perfectly for about 7 years does not now. Keep an eye on "Fly Fishing kilted", for a result? OK, going with the CTRL T option.

Well I thought I was getting somewhere with the CTRL T option! I got the introduction to stay while I got the first picture transfered, but when I came back with the second its all gone!Tried several times and still the same -----nothing.

Jock ,
I don't have an answer to your problem but I may know the cause ( or maybe not , just relating my own experience ). I have experiecned similar issues from time to time whereby trying to perform certain tasks the way I always done them , only to discover that doesn't work ( many tries ) . At which point one starts cussing and is ready to take a hammer to the computer .
What I have disocvered to be at the root of the problem are often software updates . Microsoft Windows as well as anti-virus softwares that you may have will do software updates behind the scenes while your computer is connected to the internet . You may or may not realize they happened , just depending on whether a person was in front of their computer when it happened and seen the notification bubble pop up .
These updates are often specific to certain software vesrions and anti-virus versions and affect different peoples computers differently . The unintended consequence is that the updates affect some of our routine ways of doing our regular tasks ( which is a real pain in the a** ! ) . This may be why you have encountered a problem ( always turned out to be my problem ) .
Not sure if this is of any help , but it may provide food for thought for you and Steve Ashton as you try to solve this issue .
I'm sure you're not in the mood for humor at this point , but as someone said to me in a similar situtation " the joy of victory and the agony of delete " . Didn't solve my problem , but made me smile for a moment .
Best , Mike

Well I would not have thought of that angle and I have no way of knowing if that is the problem. Funnily enough I did notice a whole host of automatic updates being downloaded the other day when I switched off the machine, but I cannot accurately remember if my troubles started before, or, after the event. Thank you for your thoughts.
