Apparently it belonged to Private Walker. I think the date is 1959. It's a bit blurred.
Best of all, I paid $20. Not to shabby, eh?
You lucky dog! Congrats!

I give full credit to Dixiecat, who spied the item but was gracious enough to allow me to buy it. Nevertheless, it was I who proposed the thrift store foray in the first place so I'll take a small part of the credit for the overall event.

The badge in question is the infamous "crucified moose" badge of the The Highland Division, which was universally hated by the Jocks, especially Mad Mitch's Argylls:

When the new cap badge of the RRS came out in 2006, there were some strong comparisons to the old "crucified moose" badge.

Well, that Gordon Highlanders sporran went for $280 USD. I'l shocked it went so high. Makes my little thrift store baby look pretty effing good.

I was watching that one too Turpin. I did not have a horse in the race though) The price jumped from 168.00 to final price in the last 5 minutes. Amazing
I think the seller is (was) a member here. Or at least we have a member with the same moniker

Yeah, I was in the bidding for it, despite me already owning one and I just ordered another ex-MoD sporran from a contact in Stirlingshire. I thought it was a good starting bid price and should have known the price would only grow from there. Congratulations to whoever won the sporran - I also tend to think the seller made out rather well!
Cheers,

I know the feeling. I was bidding on the muskrat mask sporran and it went for more that i was willing to pay. I would like to have one but as I make sporrans I REFUSE to pay retail for one. I dont mind trades or paying a little mark up but retail is for suckers.
