    I've begun kilt number 2

And this one is going to be an X-Kilt. Really excited to give it a go with some proper fabric. Seems to be going well so far. I'm making it from Sew Classics' Target Bottomweight in hunter green. Hoping to be finished in time for Celtic Weekend at the Bristol Ren Faire this weekend.

Here is it on the cutting room floor:

    And being hemmed:

HOORAY for X-Kilters! Welcome to the club. I've made 7 X-kilts, none exactly like the others. Different cargo pockets, a back pocket, different pleats, snaps instead of velco, buttons instead of snaps, etc. The last one has one-inch knife pleats like those seen in Barb T's book, The Art of Kilt Making.

Did you finish in time? If you did, PICTURES, PICTURES, PICTURES. Or it didn't happen.

    When is #3 getting started?

Ran into a pretty big snag. Even with all of my measuring and help from my seamstress mum, I managed to end up with a hem that looks like steps so I'm going to have to use the other half of the fabric while I get to work picking all of my seams.

Thanks to some massive help from my mom, I managed to get a clean rectangle from the other half of the fabric. Not sure what is going to happen with the first one at this point, it's pretty far gone.

Anyway, I've made it as far as ironing my box pleats. It's much more square this time and it's looking great. Here's a pic:
