I'm new to Kilting so I can't really say if I walk differently but I sure do sit differently in a Kilt. When not kilted I often have my feet up either on my desk ( as I am now ) at work or on the computer at home, or on my coffee table relaxing in front of the TV. Can't sit that way in a kilt, especially if one is regimental.

I know that I am not included in the question(no offence taken ), but most of the answers so far, amaze me.

I know that when I wear a kilt I am not going to fade into the background, so it is automatic - I strut!

The wife calls it my 'kilt swagger'.
Of course, at 5'8" and 160 pounds, I doubt anybody's intimidated by that swagger.

I get to thinking of pipe marches and get that swagger when one sticks in my head.

Hva to say I agree.
My kids have told me that I walk with more confidence and purpose.
Just wish I could get away with wearing it in the office.

I'm usually kilted only when I'm being paid to play the pipes somewhere, and yes when I'm performing I'm more aware of my posture... I stand straighter perhaps than usual, and I'm marching rather than walking, one could say, with a measured even gait.
But I would do the same were I playing the pipes in trousers... which I have done, on the rare occasions I've been hired for an Irish wedding and I was told "no kilt". (Some Irish-Americans find the kilt offensive, the very symbol of British occupation.)
