What a great idea, and a great thread. Thanks so much for sharing. I have to wear safety gear, so kilts aren't allowed, alas...

Friday adventure. I was riding in the front of the bus in one of the seats that face inward. A middle aged woman gets on and sits opposite me and spies my kilt. Immediately she says in a loud voice, "I just love a man in a kilt" No sooner does she say that then another woman a few seats further into the bus says "Don't we all" with 2 more chiming in with "you've got that right". And one of those was the bus driver.
I was wearing my new Stewart old sett-modern with pale blue shirt, 2 toned blue striped tie, gray vest, black day wear sporran and gray hose with antique green garter ties, black shoes.
As I was getting off the bus one of the woman yelled "lookin' good Scottie". Have to admit it was a little embarassing but fun too.

went kilted to the office as well yesterday, first outing in my own tartan

I decided for my first kilted adventure that opening day of the Olympics would be amgood excuse to give to my wife and my boss to wear my new kilt. The wife not so excited because (instill have Tom convince her that the kilt is VERY masculine). My boss and the compan's HR all for it. So far today, nothing but positives, and it started with me riding up the escalator and having a woman behind me say "you make me miss Scotland.". It was difficult to contain my pride, and I have to say I have never felt more confortably dressed (although not fully regimental). I now truly believe that a man's "junk" was never meant to be crammed inside of pants. Freedom baby! Now I just need to convince the wife. I will post pictures later. (of the outfit, not my junk)

Kilt on Spinnaker!

Another hot summer day here in Virginny and I am keeping cool in my USAK Semi-trad in American Heritage tartan and my cotton kilt hose from Sock Dreams.

Alas, my work requires a uniform, including long pants for men. However, I may try to get away with my black UK in the future...

I'm not at the point of doing kilts for work-a-day attire just yet as I have nothing suitable to wear. While my boss doesn't believe in casual Fridays, so no blue jeans ever, I have never been forced to wear a silk neck strangling snake . . I mean tie. I generally sport dockers and nice checkered shirt.

My plan is to slip them in quietly and see how folks react; Fridays first, then Halloween and our Christmas Party. If it goes over well I willl try to wear one multiple days per week. I don't see why it would be considered unprofessional dress . . . but we have no written dress code so it is up to each supervisor what goes. It will guarantee some odd looks on the subway. :-)
