Jewish Tartan
I know there are other Jewish tartans and Israeli tartans. I was looking for a gift for a ladyfriend who is Jewish and found www.jewishtartan.com On that site they said one of their dealers was Kilt Rental USA down in Scottsdale, Arizona.
www.kiltrentalusa.com
So I called down there and they had scarfs and a sashs in stock. So I ordered a scarf for the lady. Its 10 ounce wool and I believe its 54" long. Seemed about a foot wide, maybe 10". Didn't measure it.
It is a beautiful tartan and I saw it in person for the first time this weekend - so here's a pic of the scarf.

Most important - she loves it and has been wearing it often - even in the summer heat.

hmmm I wonder what the white and blue stripes stand for ;)
very nice tartan and I like that there is something so obviously recognizable in it (the blue and white) that really sets it apart as being a tartan representing Judaism. Very nice.

This is quite a different sett from the one illustrated at the Scottish Register of Tartans under the name Scottish Jewish. It would not surprise me to find that the SRT had made a mistake – their illustration of the Mighty Men tartan is wrong, too.
It certainly is more colourful than the SRT version, which is much like the fashion tartans Shalom and Hebron. In fact it is closer to the colours of the Rabbinical tartan, which is also made strictly according to Jewish law.
Thanks for the link, Ron.

Meghan , we have all been waiting a very long time to see the pictures, as far as I am aware no one has ever seen the kilt pictures, they were not on the website originally either, and despite promises from him to send me some pictures privately I am still awaiting them, so I confess to a slight degree of doubt.....

ooooh too bad. It looked like a few people in that thread saw them since they made remarks as though they were commenting on the pictures but I was never able to find any. Oh well. It would have been cool to see.
