Hank, I made mine and it's a pretty easy project. All the materials needed were a 3/4 inch strip of leather, I used latigo, a buckle, 4 rivets and 2 trigger clips.

phil, there's a pick in my gallery. You take a 3/4 inch wide strip of leather, cut it where you want the buckle and rivet the buckle on just like you see on a conventional belt. That takes 1 rivet. rivet a clip on each end, I like trigger clips.
I found mine from a vendor at the Loch Norman Games.
I will see if I can find their business card.
It wasn't very easy to find.
Especially for a big guy.
I found several that were way too small.
I also found a brown strap at a belt maker’s booth at the local flea market.
It is just a very a skinny belt.

here is a sight I found to buy leather crafting supplies. I have not ordered anything from them yet so I can't speak to the service they provide, but may be worth a try for people that are inclined to try to make a leather belt strap http://www.onestopcandle.com/leather/leatherstore.htm
