Wow blu, what a sad case, I'm glad that whoever he is - he does not represent the majority of Scots.
Alaskan, congratulations on a cool headed response, I could not have said better.

Sorry, guys... I just could not let that go by. I posted a response that wasn't quite as diplomatic as Alaskan's. I'm waiting for him to try to post here. Lots of luck.

I'm glad to told us about it, I wouldn't have known otherwise.
If he does come here I hope he is quickly banned.

Personally, I find the best way to deal with eejits like this is simply not to respond - nothing you can say will upset them more than being ignored.

Too late for me... but you're right of course.

not the right attitude...
Well, apart from the correct statement about "Braveheart", this fellow is not typical of my Scottish friends, who are more than happy that the sons and daughters of the diaspora are aware of their roots.
Ironically, the Chief of the MacDonalds back in the late 90's supposedly said to someone of the same ilk who was complaining about Americans as Scottish "wannabes", that the "blood is stronger than a few thousand miles and a couple of hundred years" (not his exact words, of course).
He's not worth the trouble.

Frothing at the mouth . . .!
I have just read the posting and feel equally incensed . . . and ashamed of someone who purports to be a fellow-countryman of mine.
I have no knowledge of that site and have no idea of the "history" of the person who posted the message; but, having simmered down, I am inclined to think that the message is far too extreme to be a genuine expression of sane opinion. Robbie's advice is right: such crass outpourings do not deserve the dignity of a response.
