Avoiding injury seems to be a theme. I started training last January and soon developed some overuse injuries. I just started up again about eight weeks ago. My waist went up an inch after ordering my kilt (hope my kilt maker doesn't find out) but I lost that inch last week hiking and am headed down again. A waist of 35 inches would be about right for my height, 6' 2".
Photo evidence of hiking.

I dropped about 6 pounds during backpacking last week. After the Pleasanton Games I will get back to logging my calories, too, with a goal of losing a total of 25 lbs by Christmas. That'd take me down to a svelte 275, with a likely 43 inch waist.
I'm thinking that 265-275 is probably a good throwing weight for me. This 300 pound stuff is a bit much. 2014 really ought to see me back down to about 245.
