    a bit of flash

Ok so some will recall Barb T's post about pleating a kilt so a bit of color will flash as the pleats move, so my question is other than Young Modern what would work as well as that?
It's time to feed the addiction.

Any tartan with a sharp color contrast between blocks is a potential "flasher". There are many variables in setts to consider. I have two: MacTavish Modern - black with red flash, and Dunlop Ancient, black with light blue flash. The trick is to pleat so that the lighter color is facing outward just under the edge of the overlapping darker color exposed pleat.

There are so many variables to pleating to the stripe which can affect the 'flash', not least of which are the ambient light levels, height of the viewer above the pleats and the amount the wearer swings his hips as he walks.

It is a bit like medieval alchemy - you never really know what you are going to get till it is done.

But when it does work, it is truly impressive. I have a Black Stewart (used by some pipe bands), pleated to the stripe and that is quite pleasing.

    Regards

Ok, that's what I looking for.I know I was a bit vague but with a thousand tartans to choose from it could take six months of back and forth with my kilt maker and hundreds of Emails
to find "the" tartan. So do you have some other votes out there? What else mite work?
