    New model, make and materials

Just saw the new AmeriKilts this weekend at the "Celtic Fling" Festival. Business was BOOMING there for AmeriKilts... and it was no wonder!

There are new materials being sewn-up that are VERY soft, thick, and gorgeous! The tan/camel is awesome. The cordouroy kilts were interesting.

The new hiking model is a great idea. Not sure if they're on the website, but they were a hit with the folks at Celtic Fling.

Also, the original model has apparently undergone some mild but impressive changes. It didn't take much for the AmeriKilt to hang perfectly (little deeper pleat), or fit on the hips like a glove (good taper). Nice work Michael!

A hiking model? That sound promissing. Can You descripe the features? There are nor pictures on the website.

I expect a black one shortly. Black goes with nearly anything. I had a Putty coloured one allready, which unfortunately was not 32" +/-1" but max. 32". I have to fill my lungs sometime, and therefore sold it much to my regret. Anyway, I found out that 22" length isn't what I like on me.

I hopefully will be able to buy a blue Rampant Lion Tartan Kilt next year. This year a Amerikilt will do (and do very well).

I'll give it a "rip" until Mike gets on here and gives more specifics.

The kilt is pretty much the same as the original one(?), but there are side pocket clips instead of the front sporran pocket. Same "clippage"... different locations. As far as the materials, lengths, pleat changes, front placard or any other differences, I'll leave that up to AmeriKilts to explain.

I know that they're VERY busy, but let's see if we can't get an update on the new line here.

    Wolfgang,

I am with you on the idea of a hiking kilt, it sounds great. Cannot wait to see and hear about the specifics.

It really is amazing what all the kilt makers are doing different to make kilt wearing more mainstream, and less an occasion thing.

I just remembered another feature on the Hiker AmeriKilt...

There's a weave belt sewn-in at the waistband!!!

Besides the removable side pockets, the belt is incorporated into the waistband. When the kilt is wrapped around to its closing point, there's a hidden belt in place to keep it closed... and it's industrial strength. This way, the front of the kilt has a smooth apron. No hardware. No designs. Nothing!
