			my Pleasanton problem

Ok guys, the games are this weekend in Pleasanton Ca. I had planned on wearing a long sleeve shirt, tie and vest, no jacket with my kilt and my Robert Mackie balmoral. But after seeing the temps in Pleasanton all this week and the prediction of mid to high 80s on Saturday and low 90s on Sunday that outfit just ain't gonna happen.I do have a solid color short sleeve dress shirt that I could wear or I could go with tee shirts, I don't have any appropriate polo shirts.
The problem I have is that I want to wear the balmoral. I need a place to attach my dandelion for its first "formal" outing. So I ask. Would the balmoral look ridiculous if I end up wearing a tee shirt?

I don't think it would look funny. Here in Florida even in the dead of winter I have had to wear short sleeve, polo or T- shirts to the highland games. Where the balmoral unless its just too hot for you. Just makes my head sweat.Cecil

I've seen lots of folks wear a Balmoral with a tee shirt, so it's not uncommon. But if it were me, I'd wear the short-sleeved button-up shirt. It's sorta traditional while still being reasonable with the weather.

I see nothing wrong with wearing a long sleeved shirt (as you were going to) no tie or waistcoat and rolling the sleeves up. Last summer on a 41C day here in the land downunder, I did exactly that, at one of the Highland Gatherings. Bonus is, if your arms start to get a bit burnt, you can roll the sleeves down

My vote is for a long-sleeve shirt, with the sleeves rolled up a couple of times, no tie, kilt, sporran, Balmoral, etc.
 Cheers,

I agree with the consensus, your shirt is the way to go. Being an ex-scout, I believe in Be Prepared. So I would take the jacket waistcoat and tie and leave them in the car - just in case. Hot days often turn into cool evenings and cold nights - sometimes quite suddenly.

					Pleasanton can be anything but!
Playing in a Pipe Band we have to wear the band kit, long sleeve shirt, necktie, waistcoat, and all. Some years Pleasanton has been well over 100 degrees.

To top it off, our band has decreed that we're not allowed to walk around the grounds in partial kit. You see it all the time at US Games, bandspeople wearing their kilt but trainers or flip-flops, or wearing their kilt hose and ghillies but board shorts, and so forth. Not in our band!

 See ya there!

The prediction is now for the high 90's on Sunday. Balmoral with a tee shirt? You'll fit right in.

However, when it comes to Pleasanton, I've always admired this fellow's style:
