Braces with kilt?

Long story short, I out grew my kilts. Now I've lost a lot of weight, and they are too big. Some just marginally too big, and wearable, but my tank is doing the slip n slide. I'm not comfortable wearing it.

Next weekend I'm going to Whisky Live, and think it an appropriate venue to wear a kilt. I have been experimenting with wearing my tank (MacKintosh Hunting) with a pair of braces to keep it from sliding down, and am planning to do this. The braces will be hidden under either a waist coat, or a tweed.

I figure this is out of the ordinary, but how far out of the ordinary? Is this something I shouldn't do? I'll be sending my tank out to be tailored once my weight has settled ( I expect in another 20lbs or so). I could wear my BW Tartan, but it just isn't as nice a kilt as the MacKintosh, so....

It has definitely been done before. Some even have butons sewn on the inside and regularly wear braces. Wear the kilt and have a good time.

what is old is new again. braces were the norm but not anymore. but why be normal? i wear suspenders and am thinking of a bow tie. bow ties are cool (not sure of the fez, though)

I've worn braces with my kilt, after losing weight. I just wear them under a sweater or waistcoat.

I wear suspenders whenever not kilted.
I've even worn them with a utilikilt I was given 10 years or so ago. I've lost a bit of weight in that time.
I'm fairly certain somebody might disapprove of it.
I'm also fairly certain that you should wear whatever you want to.

Braces or suspenders were standard at one time. Not so much the clip-ons, but the button type. The Duke of Windsor used to wear his with suspenders, with waistcoat and jacket.

Sporran height might be an issue and need adjustment. Check in a long mirror, front and sideways, before the day.

My initial thoughts were that the belt was redundant, but then I saw he was using it for the additional pouch which could be attached to it, and for what appears to be a clip hanger. However, this photo does illustrate the only thing that must be considered with braces, which is that kilts have nothing to stop themselves from migrating up the torso. That aside, there is no reason why a person couldn't/shouldn't wear a kilt with braces (and maybe even a belt too!).
