Just a head up that tomorrow IS International Talk Like A Pirate Day....you all may consider it Talk Like A KILTED Pirate Day if you wish.

So get your "Arrrrrr's" out of bed tomorrow and celebrate your Pirish heritage!

...and I will always remember the late, great James Mason's best line in the pirate classic Yellowbeard: "One pet per pirate, parrots preferred".

I read someplace that the stereotypical "pirate talk" we're all familiar with is actually based upon the idiom and accent of the Bristol seaport region. Many English pirates were originally from Bristol, including Blackbeard. I guess the "arrr" is how those folks pronounced "aye"....

since i prefer not to be shot be us navy seals, i go with the new world old school type.

we have a bit of a pirate tradition in my area considering that jean lafitte assisted in the battle of new orleans. and jean lafitte's blacksmith shop is one of the oldest, if not the oldest, bars in the french quarter.
