Something to remember is that as an American citizen, you are not liable to pay the VAT on either the cost of the kilt or the shipping. So the £195.00 becomes £162.5 - a little bit easier to live with. But make sure you tell them at the time of purchase.
A quick ready reckoner is divide by 6 then multiply by 5 = payable price to you.

There is NO VAT (Value Added Tax) as Chas states, but there would be shipping (25 GBP or roughly $40) plus there may be US Customs due when you receive the kilt (typically 12% of the purchase price or roughly $32 + processing fees of roughly $25). When buying overseas, it is a bit more complicated than just the price.
