Local school children in Ballater unveil a plaque marking a special Diamond Jubilee cairn.



I don't know what that boy is wearing on his head, but he is wearing a kilt like all the other males in the picture.

My first thought on seeing this loon was something unique to Ballater, the Wee Masons, but it probably isn't.

Yes, I'd like to know what he's wearing on his head. The girl seems to be wearing a crown but not the boy. BTW is that the Balmoral tartan they're unveiling the stone with?

It certainly looks like the Balmoral tartan.

It is. Special permission was sought and granted for this single use and Buckingam Palace provide the length.
