She was referred to me by another XMark member who has had exceptional work done by her. I'm a bit sensitive about using her name without her permission. Maybe I'm overly cautious?

Having said that, how are things in Toronto? I used to go there regularly on Via Rail from Cornwall back when I worked in Massena. It's a lovely city! Now I need a passport to cross the border. Maybe this year.

Colin, you are absolutely correct sir, it is the person you've noted. All the way on the left coast, but that's what the postal service is for!

I traveled substantially when younger, and always held the belief that Toronto was the best city in North America. It's been 15 years since I was there, but maybe this summer I will have passports in hand and visit your fair city. We have one son living in Buffalo, and another just west of there (Fredonia), so we get out close to the Niagara international bridge often. Even more so now that our son and his wife in Fredonia have our first grandchild. It's just a hike from where we live south of Albany NY.

Nice find... Apparently yesterday was a good day for thrift store Harris Tweed! My wife came home with a Harris Tweed blazer for me which she found at Salvation Army. it's a little bit big on me, but to my mind that may make it a very good candidate for conversion. The pocket placement is already fairly high and I'm thinking the extra length at the bottom might yield enough material for argyle-style cuffs.

Thrift stores are addictive and almost always worth ducking into if you have a few bucks and a few minutes. In our neck of the woods most of them rotate days where items with a tag of a particular color are 50% off. So if fate smiles upon you, you can walk out with a pristine wool suit for $10 or a Harris Tweed blazer for $5. I seem to recall another thread here where someone actually found a perfectly-fitting argyle jacket at a thrift shop!

That would be me for that argyle although it was not perfect, a little tight but close enough. I'm a 46R and it is a 44L and just had the sleeves shortened a bit. I found the OP's jacket twin Harris Tweed charcoal herringbone and just had it converted along with and light navy Italian wool jacket. I gave a friend a challenge, her first kilt jacket conversions. She did not enjoy the argyle cuffs for shortening at all, she said it was like breaking into Fort Knox.
