    Find an 8 year old girl (feel free to substitute) and ask her to show you how to braid hair...
    Decide if youre doing them from fabric or cord, if fabric sew 3 lengths into tubes, sew the 3 ends together making a tripod shape, then start braiding.

    When you're done sew the other 3 ends together to stop it unravelling.

    Split the shoulder seam about an inch, push one end in, sew, then braided portion down, resew what you can of the seam.

    Other end, make two pieces of square fabric a little bigger than the width of the epaulette and sew together on 3 sides, turn inside out and put over the end of the braid. Sew down...

    Worked for me...
