She ordered it that way to match everyone else on stage. I'm sure (in her strange mind) it helps to legitimize her decision to go with this longer design on everyone else.
In the articles that I've read, she wanted uniformity. Unfortunately, it does look like dog****. Dancers and singers... okay. But the piper?!

ANY kiltmaker out there would have been MORE than happy to take the designs and measurements and do the job. When there's that much money and notoriety in a project... you do what is asked for.
After the "kilts" are sent, then you can get back up on the horse and do what you want with your offerings.
I can't imaging that Piper ever using that kilt again after the Madonna gigs... unless it's altered.
What Graham is refering to is the pictures that we've posted from her "Reinvention Tour". USAKilts was contacted to make the custom kilts for the entire dance team, the piper, and Madonna/Esther/the artist formerly known as Madonna.
If you look at the pics of the bagpiper, you'll notice that it's not exactly Scottish-kosher (there's a new term!).

I seem to remember that on one of Madge's earlier tours everyone was wearing mini-kilts on stage.
Perhaps she'll get it right on the next tour!
