    Another venture out kilted...

Last night I was home alone with our 8 month puppy who my wife generally takes for a walk after dinner. It was a pleasant evening, somewhat cool, but not too bad. The little woman was out for drinks and a burger with girlfriends, so I baked up a frozen pizza, fed the puppy, and ate. So then it's do I kilt up or not? I live in the boonies, lots of pick-up trucks go up and down our rural road, but really, generally we don't get a lot of traffic. What the heck I figure, might as well kilt up and head out. So I don a bright red Levi's canvas shirt, tuck it into my inexpensive Black Watch acrylic kilt I picked up here at the Scottish Games a few weeks ago, pull on some heavy black socks (not hose) and black outdoor loafers, and put my sporran on, and head for the road with Buckley, the schnoodle puppy in tow.

That's about it. Trucks, cars and one REAL loud Harley went by, no honks, beeps or whistles.

Other than wearing it around the house, so far it's been a trip to Lowes and the gas station, then wearing it at a friend's party last Saturday, and then out last night just for a walk.

My inexpensive acrylic kilt is already showing signs of wear and general tattyness, so you can imagine I am looking quite forward to my new tailored semi-traditional kilt that USA Kilts is doing for me.

Slowly but surely I will build this from casual to semi-casual to dress. Everything takes time.

I hope all is well with you kilted folks. Enjoy your day!

I don't know if it's encouragement, it's just me trying to figure things out. The way I see it is I'll wear it as much as I can. It's just that the acrylic is scratchy!

Last night the big thing was whether I might run into any neighbors, but none appeared. In a way, I wish they all had!

It's going with us this weekend (in this case, our weekend starts tomorrow morning) for a vintage trailer rally near Old Forge in the SW Adirondacks. We have a big pot luck planned for Saturday, and I hope to be prepared. I'll see if I can get the little woman to snap some pics of my outfit for XMarks review...

That's too bad Frank; I'm sorry to hear you didn't get any whistles. Hope it was a good walk.

You are certainly on the right track, Frank. The more you wear it the more it becomes second nature. Looking forward to the pics.

Thanks guys. There are more recent pics around Chas, but not so much focusing on the kilt. I posted some group pics from an outing to a brew pub last week.

I need to come up with warmer kilt hose, we're expecting it to drop below freezing tonight. I may go with heavy mid-calf winter socks tomorrow and my boots with my acrylic Black Watch kilt. Need to run a load of construction debris to the landfill, then stop at the lumber yard for more stuff. Also have my eye on an inexpensive 2" belt on Amazon.

the more you get out and about, the more natural and comfortable you will feel. keep kilting.
LitTrog: Bah. You guys with your "knowledge" and "talents." Always taking the legs out from under my ignorant nincompoopery.
