I loved the artical Hamish ...You must be very proud.

I to live in a small village here in Norway. So Eyebrows have been lifted here too. However many wear National costume to Important functions. So people think it's great seeing me in a kilt. I've also started to wear it more in casual mode (Evev more eyebrow lifting) . Slowly but surely...I'm getting there.

My attitude is also changing and I'm getting more confident.I wore it alot in Austria just recently ...But I'm still in the process of writing about it as yet,so more soon.

I'm inspired by you and Graham and Bubba and all the others on this forum
    All the Best.....David.

I am sorry, Doc and Blu, but I really do not know what I can do technically to enable you to read the "Argus" article. I know absolutely nothing about computer 'technicals'. I have tried copying the text from my IMFF.NET photo album into a post here at "X Marks...", but it will not copy!

If you have not been able to access it in a day or two, let me know and I will type it out for you - although it is comparatively lengthy and will take me some time!

Thanks Graham. Actually, I have learned over the years not to become upset by others using the "S word" in connection with my kilting. After all, when boiled down to basics, that is precisely what a kilt is - there's no getting away from that.

The more we chaps continue to protest that kilts are not s----s, the longer that particular problem will exist. Why can we not simply accept the fact that a kilt is a man's s----? It's not a woman's s----, and never will be. A s---- is just a piece of tailored cloth. If it is made to fit a woman it is a woman's s----; if it is made to fit a man then it is a man's s----. At least, it is in my book. We have men's and women's shoes, coats, jackets, trousers, hats, shirts, etc., etc., but in each case the design or tailoring differs between the genders - what, then, is so objectionable about having men's and women's s-----, as long as they are similarly different in design?

I can be, and indeed was for most of my life, a true traditionalist when it comes to matters of the kilt and Highland dress (ooops! Sorry, I used the d---- word!), but I want to see the notion of the kilt evolve as well. I respect and revere the tartan as much as the next man, but I want non-tartan and non-woollen kilts to become equally accepted the world over; I want the designs to be adaptable and to not necessarily resemble the traditional kilt as we now know it, and love it.

This may not be the correct forum for this subject to continue and so I do not propose to make further comment on it here. I do, however, just leave it with the diehards (whose opinions I respect but no longer fully comprehend) as food for thought.

I'm sure he's just gone out searching for the truth. Or is that tooth. Teeth?

    What was the question?
